1. Lac La Ronge (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

Lac La Ronge is the fishing heart of northern Saskatchewan. This massive, clear shield lake offers exceptional fishing for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. Walleye in the 2-5 pound range are abundant. Lake trout fishing is excellent in the deeper basins, with fish in the 5-15 pound range. The lake has numerous lodges, outfitters, and public access points. Lac La Ronge Provincial Park offers camping and boat launches.

2. Churchill River System (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling)

The Churchill River system is one of Saskatchewan's premier fishing destinations. The river's current, rapids, and deep pools hold walleye, northern pike, lake trout, and Arctic grayling. The river is accessible from several points including Lac La Ronge and Ile-a-la-Crosse. The Churchill River is a popular route for multi-day canoe trips.

3. Pinehouse Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

4.5 hours north of Saskatoon

Pinehouse Lake, located in the Churchill River system, offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The lake's clear, cold waters and abundant structure provide ideal habitat. Pinehouse Lake has a lodge and is accessible by road from La Ronge.

4. Deschambault Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

5 hours north of Saskatoon

Deschambault Lake offers excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. The lake is less developed than Lac La Ronge, offering a more remote experience. Several lodges operate on the lake.

5. Pelican Narrows & Jan Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

5 hours north of Saskatoon

The Pelican Narrows area, including Jan Lake, offers excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. The region's clear shield lakes provide diverse fishing opportunities. Several lodges operate in the area.

6. Davin Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

4.5 hours north of Saskatoon

Davin Lake, located north of La Ronge, offers walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The lake is less pressured than Lac La Ronge and offers good fishing.

7. Nemeiben Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

4 hours north of Saskatoon

Nemeiben Lake, located near Lac La Ronge, offers walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The lake is connected to Lac La Ronge and offers similar fishing opportunities.

8. Wapawekka Lake (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

4.5 hours north of Saskatoon

Wapawekka Lake, located south of Lac La Ronge, offers walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The lake's clear waters and rocky structure provide excellent habitat.

9. Montreal River & Area (Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout)

4 hours north of Saskatoon, Lac La Ronge area

The Montreal River and its associated lakes offer walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The area is less developed than the main Lac La Ronge basin, offering quieter fishing.

10. McDougal Creek & Area (Arctic Grayling, Brook Trout)

4.5 hours north of Saskatoon

The cold, clear creeks and streams in the La Ronge area, including McDougal Creek, offer Arctic grayling and brook trout fishing. These small streams are best fished with light tackle or fly gear.

11. Peter Pond Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Walleye)

Near Buffalo Narrows

Peter Pond Lake is a large, deep lake in the Churchill River system near Buffalo Narrows. The lake offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing. The lake is connected to Churchill Lake in the extensive Churchill River waterway.

12. Churchill Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Walleye)

Churchill Lake is a large lake in the Churchill River system near Buffalo Narrows. It offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing, connected to Peter Pond Lake and Lac Ile-a-la-Crosse.

13. Montreal Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Walleye)

Near Prince Albert National Park

Montreal Lake is a large lake in central Saskatchewan near Prince Albert National Park. It offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing with a provincial recreation site.

14. Primrose Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Walleye)

Near Meadow Lake

Primrose Lake straddles the Saskatchewan-Alberta border in the boreal forest. The Saskatchewan side offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and lake trout fishing.

15. Dore Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike)

Dore Lake is a large, deep lake in the Churchill River system near Beauval. The lake is known for excellent lake trout and northern pike fishing in a beautiful shield setting.

Frobisher Lake is a remote northern lake offering excellent lake trout and northern pike fishing in a pristine wilderness setting. Access is by float plane only.
