Fishing in Far North Saskatchewan

1. Lake Athabasca (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling)

Lake Athabasca is one of the largest lakes in North America and offers world-class lake trout fishing. The Saskatchewan side of the lake produces trophy lake trout that regularly exceed 30 pounds. Northern pike are abundant in the shallow bays. Arctic grayling are found in the tributaries. The Saskatchewan side of the lake is less developed than the Alberta side and offers a true wilderness experience. Access is by float plane or boat from Uranium City.

This is a must-fish destination for serious trophy anglers.

3. Wollaston Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling)

Far northeastern Saskatchewan, fly-in or road access

Wollaston Lake is one of the largest lakes in Saskatchewan and offers excellent fishing for lake trout, northern pike, and Arctic grayling. The lake is unique because it drains to both the Arctic Ocean and Hudson Bay. Wollaston Lake has road access from the community of Wollaston Lake and several lodges. Lake trout in the 5-15 pound range are common.

4. Reindeer Lake (Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout)

Northeastern Saskatchewan, straddles Manitoba border

The Saskatchewan side of Reindeer Lake offers excellent fishing for northern pike, walleye, and lake trout. The lake is massive and diverse, with shallow weedy bays and deep clear basins. Reindeer Lake has several lodges on the Saskatchewan side and is accessible by road or float plane.

5. Black Lake (Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling)

Far northern Saskatchewan, fly-in only

Black Lake, located north of Lake Athabasca, offers lake trout, northern pike, and Arctic grayling fishing in a pristine wilderness setting. The lake is fly-in only and receives very few anglers. This is a destination for serious wilderness anglers.
