Information We Collect

Personal Information

We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use the Free version of CatchTales. If you contact us via email, we will receive your email address and any information you choose to share in your message.

App Data

The app stores the following data locally on your device:

• Catch records (species, weight, length, date, time, location, weather, photos)
• Trip logs and water condition notes
• Tackle box inventory
• App preferences and settings

Pro users who enable cloud sync will have this data backed up to our secure cloud servers. You can disable cloud sync at any time.

Location Data

CatchTales uses your device's GPS to auto-fill catch locations and to show your position on the interactive map. Location data is stored locally with your catch records and is only transmitted to our servers if you enable cloud sync (Pro feature). You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Usage Data

We may collect anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app, such as which features are used most frequently. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the CatchTales app
• Enable cloud sync and Fish Together features (Pro users)
• Respond to your questions and support requests

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your catch data or personal information with advertisers or marketing companies.

Crowdsourced depth logging data (submitted anonymously by users) is displayed on the interactive map for the benefit of all users. No personal information is associated with these submissions.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for cloud-synced data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Third-Party Services

The app integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google Maps — for map display, location services, and Places data (community lake stats)
• OpenWeatherMap — for weather data and forecasts
• OpenSeaMap — for nautical chart overlays

These services have their own privacy policies governing the use of data.

Children's Privacy

CatchTales is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (export your catch records)
• Delete your data (delete individual catches or uninstall the app to remove all local data)
