AI Fish ID

What it does

CatchTales uses AI to identify fish from a photo in seconds. Take a picture of your catch and the app tells you the exact species — with its profile, typical size, and fishing tips.

No internet required for the basics: the built-in fish database has detailed profiles for hundreds of freshwater species across North America. The AI photo identification adds instant, accurate species recognition on top.

Every identification links to a full species profile — description, habitat, typical weights and lengths, and the best lures and techniques for catching that fish.

How to use it

1. Open the Fish ID screen from the ⋮ menu.
2. Tap the camera icon (or the + button to add a fish).
3. Take a photo of your catch — or pick one from your gallery.
4. Tap Identify. AI recognizes the species in seconds.
5. Confirm the species, then explore its full profile and fishing tips.

You can also search the database by name or region, filter by water type, and mark fish as Caught, Mastered, or Wishlist to track your collection.
