Oregon offers some of the most diverse fishing in America — from Pacific salmon and halibut off the coast to sturgeon in the Columbia River, trout in Cascade lakes, and bass in eastern Oregon reservoirs. The Deschutes River is famous for redside rainbow trout, Crater Lake offers unique fishing at 6,000 feet elevation, and the Rogue River provides world-class salmon and steelhead fishing.
Fishing Regulations
- Possession limit is 3 daily bag limits for all species (2 for marine finfish); no possession limit for adult salmon and steelhead.
- Annual bag limits: white sturgeon 2, Pacific halibut 6, salmon/steelhead 20 combined (recorded on Combined Angling Tag).
- Columbia River Basin Endorsement required when fishing for salmon, steelhead, or sturgeon in the Columbia River mainstem and tributaries.
- Angling restricted to artificial flies and lures in streams unless exceptions allow bait.
- Closed to retention of green sturgeon; sturgeon over 54 in fork length may not be removed from the water; only one single-point barbless hook for sturgeon.
