Kansas has over 120,000 lakes — but the vast majority are small private farm ponds. The state offers 24 large public reservoirs including Milford Lake, Wilson Lake, and Cheney Reservoir, plus excellent wiper, crappie, walleye, and catfish fishing.
Fishing Regulations
- Individual waters may have different length and creel limits - check individual listings.
- Possession limit is THREE times the daily creel limit.
- Once the daily creel limit of a species is possessed, additional fish of that species must be released immediately.
- Statewide 15-in walleye limit does not apply in rivers, streams and tailwaters.
- AIS: no live fish possession when departing designated AIS waters; drain livewells and remove drain plugs.
