Delaware Fishing Regulations

General Rules (barbless hooks are the #1 cause of fines)
- ⚠ Non-tidal (freshwater) limits per person per day; tidal species per separate tables.
- ⚠ Special rules apply to fly-fishing-only trout waters (4 trout limit).

Species Limits

Waterbody-Specific Rules
Becks Pond
- Largemouth bass: min 15 in, daily limit 2.
DNREC fly-fishing-only trout waters
- Trout: 4/day, fly-fishing only (see trout waters list).
Delaware River & tidal tributaries
- Tidal species have separate limits (striped bass, weakfish per marine tables).
Brandywine Creek
- Trout: 6/day (fly-fishing-only sections 4/day); check DNREC trout waters list.
White Clay Creek
- Trout: 6/day; special regs per DNREC.
Red Clay Creek
- Trout: 6/day.
Christina River
- Trout: 6/day (stocked sections).
Nanticoke River
- Tidal: striped bass per marine regs; catfish no limit.
Delaware Bay
- Striped bass, weakfish, flounder per marine tables.
Broadkill River
- Tidal species per marine regs.
Silver Lake (Dover)
- Panfish: 50/day; bass 6/day, 12 in minimum.
Seasons
Largemouth/smallmouth/panfish all year; trout streams open 1st Sat in April, ponds 1st Sat in March.
Licence Fees
Delaware fishing license required (resident/non-resident); trout stamp for trout; fees per DNREC.
